Young-L’dod Lake

Moorhens have 4 young ; Swans have 5 cygnets ; Geese have 9 Goslings and latest of the 3 ducks has 12 ducklings! Mind , unlike the Canadas which have 4 adults closely guarding , the fem Mallard is pretty hopeless as for example today she had them strewn over 15 yards in the middle of the lake! If ever the big gulls come back , they will have a feast! the Mallard which had 3 is down to one! Heron yesterday on the island. Lake in a bad way with weed covering much of the Southern half which desperately needs clearing

  1. I counted a few more of the cute little fluffies t’ other day: 13 goslings, 6 cygnets and a second pair of swans were near the island with a young brood, not sure how many. They’re all vulnerable when so small alas, but the Canadas are fierce guardians indeed.

  2. Well done M-it’s like trying to count ripples!!! I’m just praying to non existent gods to see the grebe with offspring!
