Elan yest.

Further attempts to find Whinchats resulted in a quick glimpse of one near Craig Goch-not impressive. After a visit to Aber we returned and managed this Sandpiper  half asleep on one leg and the Buzzard. At least we are up to scratch with Mippits adorning many of the fence posts.

  1. Three crackers Kev, especially like the Buzzard

  2. Many thanks again.

  3. Three great shots Kev…….. don’t normally see pipers on the top of posts!

  4. Thanks Martin-no indeed-usually Snipe or Shanks. It cheered me up after a non eventful day.

  5. Kev – you’re right, the Whinchats are not ‘in your face’ on the Pont ar Elan/Hirnant roadside fences this year. You may have to walk a bit to find some of the 11 singing males I had last week, as well as the Reed Bunts. Song should be heard from Pont ar Elan carpark, and by short walks up the Elan from there, or the Torclawdd stream.

  6. Cheers Andrew.

  7. Plenty of whinchats on top of Mol Dod near Llanbadarn Fynydd common on Glyndwrs Way. Saw 6 on Saturday morning (1st July).

  8. Thanks for that Jane -great to hear from up there.
