Monthly Summary

Elan Valley: April records received. Thank you to all the contributors.

The last Goldeneye record was on the 2nd with 9 on D y n reservoir. A pair of Goshawks were displaying on the 3rd and 10 Mandarins along with  2 Common Terns were on D y n reservoir, on the 4th. The first Redstart record was on the 5th and Swallow and House Martin on the 9th.

A Water Pipit was seen at Pont ar Elan 15th and 16th, and the first Whinchats were recorded on the 19th. 5 newly hatched Mallard ducklings were down Claerwen on the river 24th, and never to be seen again, also 10 Wheatears, 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls were between Pont ar Elan/hirnant. A Swift 27th, Crossbills (juvs) 28th and 2 Common Sandpipers were at Claerwen dam 29th.

Other records: At least 3 Cuckoo, Barn Owl, Short-eared Owl, Greenland Wheatear, Merlin and White Wagtail.
