Friends and New Faces.

Bird Walk, RSPB Carngafallt, Elan Valley.

A big thank you to all those that turned up today for this event.

A total of 32 species were seen, highlights included Wood Warbler, at least 3 singing birds, Mandarin, Stock Dove, Cormorant, Pied Flycatcher, Blackcap, Goshawk (Well spotted Cherry) and Redpoll.

Watching birds from an early age. Became a serious twitcher during the 80s clocking up 400 + species, which was a lot in them days. Later became a Wildlife Trust Warden and during the 90s The Warwickshire County Mammal Recorder for the Mammal Society and Warwickickshire Biological Record Centre, before moving to Mid-Wales. Today living and Birdwatching in the beautiful Elan Valley, Mid Wales, Recording-BTO survey work, Nest Record Scheme and WeBS.

    A very enjoyable morning and the weather held off for most of the morning too! Great to see such a good turn out. Next week hopefully the Redstarts will have returned..

    We really enjoyed it. Made a great start to our holiday in the Elan Valley.

    A great walk Tony and Alan, thank you. I spent the rest of the damp day in the Valley and saw 43 species.
