Busy little Nuthatch in our old garden wall; spent a lot of time in this cavity (as was used 2016 by Grey Wagtails to breed) but what was it doing ?
Might be a new trend James!!
is it a Wallhatch then ?
Why not-after all we get Treecreepers and Wallcreepers! 🙂
I had one nest in a barn wall for several years but it was a hole deliberately left when a doorway was filled with stone and cemented. The nuthatch made its characteristic entrance. Now the hole is used by house sparrows every year.
Has it been carrying mud? if so then possibly its making its entrance further back in the wall.
