Lake and garden.

This Gull appeared briefly on the lake a couple of days ago , in such a rush to try to capture him frightened all the ducks away much to the Leafies and grandchildren annoyance!!!! Apologies….I believe by the size to be a 2nd winter Great Black backed gull, we have had several lesser, but this one be it in the middle of the lake seemed bigger, Please do not hesitate to put me right, my knowledge of sea birds is much limited…One can see the pinkish legs when he flew off.

Our first Redpolls this A.M we had six, still many siskins a pair of bullies and STARLINGS, a couple of goosanders up the lakeside…Just try to get near them down the river…No chance,_j8a2017Taken with goosander for size comp._j8a1920Please ignore quality of pics way out and dull._j8a2054

Great set. See you have same problem as us with nijer seed all over the ground. I put an anti squirrel half bowl upside down to catch the waste and the birds still seem to feed from that.

Cheers Brian, must try that, our redpoll seem to prefer ground feeding previous years, must busy myself and make a small platform table to place under the nyjer see if that will work.

  4. bazzpugh says:
