Elan Valley.

News from yesterday. Alan and I spent a few early morning hours doing the rounds, in and around the v c there were 100 + Fieldfare taking what must be the last of the berries, also present were 20 + Blackbird, 5 Goldfinch and a pair of Stonechat. Down the Claerwen valley more Stonechats 3 pairs, and a calling Chiffchaff. On Dolymynach there were 20 Mandarin, 10 Mallard and 4 Goldeneye. 2 Cormorant were on the edge of Garreg Ddu reservoir and at Troedrhiwdraen farm there were more Fieldfare 100 + and another 2 pair of Stonechat. At Craig Goch there were 2 Redpoll, a pair of Stonechat, and bird of the day was a superb looking male Merlin perched on the rocks, well spotted Alan C.

Other records from the last week include: 13 Goldeneye, 10 + Crossbill, 2 Hen Harriers, 2 Barn Owls, 2 Goshawks and the male Merlin showing between Craig Goch and Pont ar Elan.

Harry the ranger recorded 5 Ring Ouzels on the 24 November, nice one Harry.
