Crossbill Landod Golf links,

072Prompted by Phils previous blog I took a trip up to the Golf Club mid day…Met Phil who guided me to where he saw the flock earlier by the 18 th green … but unfortunatley they had flown …I decided to see if I could track them down and was lucky enough to find a small feeding group of males near the 5 th green… good on you Phil.128Phil tells me that of recent years he usually finds them in small groups around the course feeding in the small conifer plantations….Yes indeed it would be nice if they decided to colonise and breed….wishful thinking. So folks if you want a sighting of this colourful bird get up there before they decide to scarper.

  4. This is amazing to capture these images of such a rare bird – must be worth sending to local press – do you agree, Bazz ?

  5. Baz,

Great shots – Been after these beauties for long time – is the golf course at Llandod ? I have also seen references to sightings ( not crossbills) at Rhosgoch – is that Rhosgoch near Painscastle which is my local area .Dick Cridlan

  6. Cheers folks, Dick ….yes the golf links is above llandrindod Wells lake and sign posted…I have taken pics near Rhosgoch Painscastle …but please don’t get confused with Rhogo which is only a little way outside Llandod itself on the minor road to hundred house.Ask for Phil Davies the club pro at golf club..he’s a keen birder and probably help you with location of x bills. Good luck.
