Elan Valley

Good numbers of Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff and Meadow Pipit. Craig Goch reservoir: Canada Geese 6 and a single Great Crested Grebe. Hirnant: Curlew (2 pairs), Reed Bunting (2 pairs), Stonechat (2 pairs) and overhead Skylark, 6 singing birds. Penygarreg: A single Tree Pipit. Caban Coch: Greylag Geese (1 pair). Garreg Ddu: A single Redstart. Claerwen Valley: Stonechat (2 pairs), Wheatear (1 pair), a male Peregrine and a Grey Wagtail building a nest by the river. D y m reservoir: Goldeneye (6), Canada Geese (4), Goosander (1 pair) and a male Mandarin.


Tonight 42 adult summer Black-headed Gulls were roosting on Caban Coch reservoir.
