A little further afield..

Monday was spent watching Marsh Harrier, Black Winged Stilt, Red Rumped Swallow,  Osprey, Black Winged Kite, Flamingos, Caspian Tern oh & Wryneck and Great Spotted Cuckoo –  as well as the above Hoopoe.. Sardinian Warbler and Zitting Cisticola were in full voice, the temperature was a very pleasant 19 celcius.

I know it is close to April fool’s day, but I am not even going to try and claim the above for Radnorshire (if only!), as we have just returned from a few days in Lisbon. However, I would like to give a small plug for our fabulous guide Bernardo from Birds and Nature tours Portugal (Site at ). He took us out to the fantastic Tagus Estuary and was absolutely brilliant with both myself, Theresa and Isla. We saw 74 species of bird in a few hours – even with a three year old in tow. If anyone has a chance to go Lisbon it is an amazing city with lovely people, great architecture and a huge amount of wildlife on it’s doorstep.

Alas, it looks like winter is returning in Wales after our brief taste of summer – we felt it stepping of the aeroplane yesterday! I can confirm that the Swallows and Martins are not far away though..

  1. Lucky buggers!

  2. Fantastic trip and amazing view of hoopoe amongst others. Would just like to point out our camera is a Sony Cybershot point and shoot with 18.2 megapixels so don’t despair if you don’t have a big lens.

  3. Sounds great!
