Common Gull Llandod Lake.

Despite Its name it certainly isn’t , and very few have visited Llandod lake . Perched on a post close to the Island on first sighting I thought we had a Ring Billed Gull….. until I consulted the oracle ( Collins) .

unfortunately the Golden Eye has moved on much to the dismay of Mr and Mrs Shirley Sutton from Dolau , who decided to nip up after doing their weekly shop hoping to catch a glimpse.

A big thanks to Carol for giving me a bell on this:- A fine Golden Eye drake arrived on the lake sometime since yesterday. Also sighted by Carol …..3 Tufted Ducks 2 drakes 1 duck ….2 male Wigeon and Gadwall pair. A little late in the day returning from Hereford , but still enough light for a couple of shots… at 4.00 pm. The days are drawing out thankfully.

This afternoon at Llynheilin 8 canada geese back , with 2 tufted duck, 15 + wigeon , 2 female goosander, and a few mallard and teal. The 2 resident swans reigning supreme over their pool, then the snow showers swept in

Yesterday a short hop up to the forest Bleddfa side ….. sighted 3 Crossbills a male and 2 females, heard quite a few more, also at least 3 gold crest and 1 firecrest heard but not seen, very misty and dark above the fishpools trail, a couple of Grt spotted woodies showing near to the main trail.

A walk around the lake this A.M. the two male wigeon still hugging the Island.

Round L’dod lake again in the gathering gloom! New platform well under way and Gadwall slightly nearer than usual.

A frustrating day…again! No Goldcrest to be seen in Rock Park; scoured Penybont common for rumoured Shorties from 16;00-17:00 to no avail ; round L’dod lake :just the 8 Goosanders.
