Coming through almost daily , but so dark and dismal no hope of pics-don’t recall him catching anything for MONTHS! Must do better elsewhere.

Otherwise  4 Bullfinches again ,pair of Siskin, 4 Goldfinches ,3 Hedge Sparrows, 10 House ,6 Greenfinches , 3 Coal Tits and assorted corvids.

Loads of Blue + Great.

Only 3 seen on the lake this evening!

Mr Mandarin was still present around the beach area, and looking alot smarter now!

A large flock (40-50) of finches were seen in the tree tops by the sewage works today.  My initial thought were Redpolls, but could have been Goldfinches, Siskins or even a mixed flock!

At least 3 on the old tip today, also 40 Redpolls and a Meadow Pipit.  66 Redwing flew west in the evening.

In the garden today there was a good variety of bird life, including 1 Sparrowawk, 2+ Jays, 1 Magpie, 1+ Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Pied Wagtail, 5+ Nuthatches, 1 Siskin, 11 Goldfinches, 2 Bullfinches, 1 Redpoll 2+ Marsh Tits and good numbers of Blackbird, Dunnock, Robin, House Sparrow, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Chaffinch and Greenfinch.

A ringing session on the farm this morning with Tony Cross produced a nice variety of species, including 1 Redwing, 1 Blackbird, 2 Robins, 1 Wren, 2 Redpolls, 6 (+ 1 re-trapped) Goldcrests, 28 Blue Tits, 6 Great Tits, 2 Coal Tits, 15 Long-tailed Tits (I also let one slip out of my hand before ringing it!!), 1 (+1) Marsh tit and to complete the tit set 1 Willow Tit!!

Elsewhere on the farm the was a flock of over 100 Redpolls, 1 Woodcock, 1+ Brambling, 1 Green Woodpecker, 4 Stock Doves and good numbers of Corvoids, Red Kites, Buzzards, Meadow Pipits, Starlings and winter Thrushes.

Several hundred were seen feeding on berries on the road between Llanbadarn and Felindre, also hundreds if not thousands of starlings feeding in the roadside fields.

Can you spot them-Ring ouzel Brambling + Redwing? Fieldfare wouldn’t cooperate.

Ok so Magpies aren’t rare, but I was quite shocked to see 17 feeding togther in a field this morning!

1 know the rhyme goes - one for sorrow, two for joy and so on……. But what is seventeen?  Any ideas?
