A walk around a very gloomy and quiet Caerhyddwen this morning. A Willow Tit by the quarry had a ring on its leg. Good to see these birds as they have declined so much they are now on the rare breeding bird list. A couple of Crossbill flew over with 20 Siskin a few Redpoll. A few Bullfinch were also present along with the usual Goldcrests and Coal tits. The latter seem to have had a good year with higher numbers in the forestry and visiting the peanut feeders. Also good to see and hear more Wrens about after the hard winters a few years ago.
Earlier a male Goosander was at Llanwrthwl bridge.
