This afternoon at Llynheilin 8 canada geese back , with 2 tufted duck, 15 + wigeon , 2 female goosander, and a few mallard and teal. The 2 resident swans reigning supreme over their pool, then the snow showers swept in

Well done , Did you find out anything more about the swan that was left cowering in the reeds.

No sign of second swan day after first one found dead (and had been reduced to scattered feathers a day later again) , but there was a `white lump` out in middle of reed beds which disappeared a couple days later, I did wonder if this was corpse second swan.

Sounds a bit ominous unfortunatley.

Yes a case of `Nature Red in Tooth and Claw` I think;
Interesting to find that in USA mute swans viewed as highly undesirable alien species because of their aggressive territorial behaviours driving other wildfowl away

There are 42 + on Llandrindod Lake, apart form the alpha males keeping their siblings and other would be challengers at bay, quite a harmonious group. A woman stupidly allowed her labrador to go for a swim in the lake, the dog was instantly set upon by a pair of swans and the dog was very lucky to come out alive. I fogot to add the swans had cygnets.
