Fed up with rain , we headed out to the Elan pm. . Dol y mynach produced : 1 fem Goldeneye , 1 Cormorant, 2 Dabchicks ,1 Heron , 1 Green Woodpecker and 2 Jays. Further up near the farm , a Mistle Thrush. No sign of Shorties-too early I guess.

  1. lovely to see the mistlethrush – last year met Phil Davies at the golf course early one morning and saw five mistlethrush on the 7th fairway. Definitely worth a visit before the golfers arrive though I guess not the place to try and take pics! We used to hear and see the green woodpecker round our patch but not in the last two years. Also seem to have lost the marsh tit.

  2. Green woodpecker is a good record – supposed to have disappeared from the Elan valley.

  3. That’s amazing Steve-I must pay more attention-never dreamed they were in trouble up there.
